A new color can dramatically change a room or entire home. You can create the atmosphere based on your expectations of the space.
It is important to remember that color changes based upon its surroundings. Therefore; floor, window treatments and furniture should be taken to consideration when choosing the colors.
Light is another important factor that affects the way a color looks in an interior. The same color will look different in direct sunlight that under artificial light. What that means is that selecting colors can be tricky and the best way to do it is to make the selection in the actual space where color will appear. It also helps to realize how much time you will spend in the space during the certain times of the day.
The painted custom mantel and bookshelf here adds visual emphasis and a sense of comfort. Ceiling, walls, and all trim were also painted and serve here as a background for an explosion of hues and patterns.
Modern dwelling with beautiful view of the city as a background.
In this room all woodwork, ceiling, and walls were painted. The volume of white trim makes this family room feel crisp and clean. The neutral beige wall and ceiling color is accented with patterned wallpaper behind the bookshelves and patterned textiles that give it character.

Grey colors complement red accents and create interesting vertical separation lines between windows.
Custom high gloss ebony and mahogany stained floor offset the light walls in this space. The red color on the treads and within carpet design brings a bit of excitement here.
This is an example of an analogous scheme with a specifically designated central space on the main wall. Separation is defined by adding pieces of painted trim.
This is a good example of using color to separate function within an open plan floor design. A change in color indicates the transition of the living area into the dining area in a space that does not have an actual wall. Here, a purple hue surrounds the living area and changes to dark beige for the dining room.
This is a good example of how a dark color can bring architectural elements to life. High contrast beautifully enhances all of the lighter features within the space.
This simple modern room is blue with a grey undertone which works nicely with the green chairs, natural wood floor and artwork.
A muted green tone across this space inclusive of the trim gives it a modern and uncomplicated feeling allowing the other finishes like the tile and the custom stained doors to work as a cohesive environment.
Muted, earth tones of grey never go out of fashion, and any space painted in these muted shades will have a long lasting effect. An individual touch of personalized objects adds to the positive feeling in this condo.
This is the most satisfying formal room I have ever worked in with dramatic contrast that have an air of sophistication and timeless elegance.
In this entry hallway, doors and walls are painted black with different sheens. busy mosaic floor tiles adds a lot of interests to this small space. All the elements are setting up a dialogue between each other.
Murals are individual statements. They are as unique as the person who creates them and the client who requests them. Not being mass produced like wallpaper they make a deeply personal statement. They are truly custom and can create one of a kind spaces. My murals are large scale patterns that react to the architecture of a space and create movement and rhythm that brings energy into the room. I also create custom designs based upon client ideas. Occasionally a client requests a mural based upon the interpretation of a story or an artwork that is pre-existing and I adapt it to their space based upon their vision.
This bold pattern revolutionizes this dining room. Grey variations add a neutral balance to the darker shapes and break up the pattern while the navy blue and red enhance the illusion of depth. It creates a unique personal statement.
This dynamic design was created to bring energy to this space . The black background brings out the line pattern to its fullest expression.

This free-hand painted design challenges wallpaper for its ability to correct lines where necessary. This is a stunning adaptation of a wallpaper concept tat is customized to the space.
The line density in this design changes to create volume and give the space a layered quality. Rather than a flat graphic approach, this hand painted treatment changes based upon the requirements of the space.
Created in a nursery, this mural brings a feeling of adventure and family. The horizon wraps the room with an impression of open land and possibility.

This bold design revolutionizes this dining room. Layers of colored shapes create complexity and energy with reds playing off of transparent grey to give the pattern a sense of depth.
This hand painted accent wall ties this room together using a network of intersecting lines in a dark brown. The result is warm and natural. It softens the edges of the light wall and gives it a feeling of nature.
This design is complex disguised as simple. Its shapes come in the door and relax as they move into the room. Graphic lines break up the wall and give it a sense of dimension. Filling a few of the shapes with a complementary hue adds some balance through counterpoint.
One of my most satisfying work brings a resemblance of Egyptian designs with distorted effect.

This watercolor cloud mural is supported by a navy blue door that makes it more cohesive.
This is a tiny hideout for two little girls who play here. A custom cabinet hides the entrance to this space under the stairs. The arrows and lines create a secret forest and bring color, movement and a sense of children's drawings into this fun play area.
This is a strong accent wall facing the entry door. It has interactive shapes that can be interpreted any way you want with interlocking lines.
Metallic copper lines reflect the light in a particular way and bring a changing sense of depth to this room. They can change depending upon the light source used.
This room was made for a teenage baseball fan, the lines and colors of this design come from the logo of The Chicago Cubs.
In addition to the process of painting interiors with solid colors I also provide a selection of advanced painting techniques commonly known as faux finishing. Faux finishes can add an organic rhythm or a specialty texture to your decorating project. With the right tools and extensive practice I master these effects and use my imagination to expand and adapt them to make my own custom finishes. I can combine finishes into one design to add new life to a classic technique.
There are two categories within decorative painting that are worth mention: textured surfaces and pattern. Texture will affect the way a color is seen because material absorbs and reflects light. Venetian plaster and stucco are the best examples of this. Pattern on the other hand, can help add movement to a scheme and often is used to change the impression of the room's dimensions in height or length.
Both are a practical choices to hide marks on high use surfaces.
This metallic faux finish with strong orange undertone was created by tinting the base color darker with each pass of the application. The simple light fixture allows for a view and lighting inside the opening features this specialty ceiling cove.
Based on a design provided by Elstad Interiors, I built 34 frames with mirrors that were assembled into 17 units to cover existing fire boxes on 17 floors of a condominium building. Each unit is mounted on hardware allowing both pieces to slide open to give access to the fire hose. The face of the piece is covered in faux finish with combined silver and gold paint, while the black trim creates a crisp frame.
This distressed finish gives the fireplace an antique character. Adding gold elements to the finish gives it an elegant feeling and a touch of luxury that can work with traditional interiors or as a classical feature.
For this restaurant, I used a scumbling painting technique to create textural geometric patterns that mimic the look of wall-covering. I customized the pattern, as shown in the diamond design on the pictures. For a look that is classic and rich yet not overdone I chose two related colors.
To achieve a classic look I used a combination of two metallic colors here. This ceiling cove creates a luxurious backdrop for the pendant extending far below surface of the ceiling. Lighting hidden along perimeter of the trim adds to the glowing effect.
This rag-off finish created on walls throughout the hallway, gives the space a golden glow. Earthy, dulled-down yellow works here as a neutral. The space feels natural and classy and the yellow reflects enough light to make the space bright without being harsh.
This silver metallic rubbing effect gives the bathroom a feeling of stripped down luxury.
Intended to be a focal point and separation between two parts of the house, the fireplace wall was covered in rag-off technique using darker tones of the wall color. The size of the fireplace commands attention. The use of toned-down yellow blends it into its surroundings.
This ceiling is a combination of metallics applied in a pattern that reflects light in the shapes of the brush strokes. It adds a field of interest across the expanse of the ceiling.
This treatment was applied with fluid motions and achieved a flow of metallic shapes that soften the edges of the room.
This metallic ceiling was achieved with several paint colors and offsets the room nicely.
This is a close-up of metallic faux from the previous picture. Each of nine panels received the same treatment. I used three different metallic colors and combine them into one finish with rag off technique.
This powder room is a lush metallic gold all the way around. The effect is burnished and comfortable while feeling like a unique gem inside of the home.
Here is an example of an improvement done by adding a faux finish effect to the space. Here I used a frottage technique to create a dramatic and rich atmosphere. The final effect is softened by under-painting in warm tones and choosing a muted top-color.
Refinishing kitchen cabinetry is an ever growing part of my business. It is a reasonably priced alternative to buying a brand new cabinets. If your cabinets still suit the space but need to be refreshed in color and finish this is the way to go. In most cases I am dealing with outdated pine and maple clear coated surfaces. On occasion cabinets are damaged from years of use and need some repairs. But if the wood is in good shape my spray lacquer finish achieves a factory look and quality. The final effect is always stunning and satisfying. At the end of this section are some before and after comparisons to show the impact of a fresh painted finish .

Here are some projects that incorporate pattern in different ways. Mostly linear designs these projects create texture and structure within the space.
This inviting design in the mud room provides a welcoming entrance. As seen here from the family room it also creates a colorful framed background surface to contrast the saturated, calm family room color .
The simple diamond design in this nursery is understated and soft. It gives this room the feeling of a fabric or upholstery surface .
This bathroom was built for my clients' children. I developed a color palette within the room by working closely with the owners to create a playful, colorful, and inviting atmosphere.
Outdoor space does not need to be boring. This example shows how bold idea can transform patio into fun and positive place to be.
Horizontal stripes bring the natural order of landscape into this nursery providing calm and a bit of easygoing movement.
To connect previously empty and unattractive wall to the rest of the space this stripe design serves as extension for kitchen cabinets and interesting element within open floor plan.
Instead of covering walls in this very small nursery room which would be overwhelming I painted the ceiling. Very simple but effective approach to this small room.
This toilet room is a part of master bathroom but separated from main space with a door. Bathroom is all white and this little oasis of contemporary design is the escape from neutrality of sizable white space.

The series of canvas were painted for Roosevelt University's Jazz ensemble showcase at the Auditorium Theatre. Jazz from swing through avant-garde was surrounded by the images that reflected the music history.
I have always had the ability to create imaginary worlds from the smallest thoughts. I like to have my art viewed as if it were alive all the time. In my work, dramaturgy is an important factor. I like to create art that allows the viewer to remember past thoughts through my use of color and technique.
My work can be viewed as flowing, running dramaticly or dancing within itself. I paint like my personallity - with a vast world of color that sometimes seems magical. I ask that when you look at and contemplate my work, do not think or request an explanation; just allow yourself to feel.
I believe that what brings us together is respect for an idea of creativity. Each of us interpret individually, but in reality are joined under the same need to experience an emotional sensation.
Please take what you can from my artwork. Thank you.
